What Are Exterior Facade Cladding Systems?

Exterior facade cladding is the dressing of a building's exterior surface with modular panels for aesthetic, functional and technical purposes. An old brick, plaster, mosaic or painted facade becomes deformed over the years as it is exposed to wind, rain and UV rays. Facade cladding provides not only a visual renewal but at the same time thermal insulation, rain–wind protection and, in the long term, an increase in investment value. As Techno Reklam, in Iskenderun we apply composite, aluminum, wood-composite and acrylic facade systems for both commercial buildings (banks, stores, malls, office blocks) and residential structures.

Technical Details

Facade cladding consists of 3 main layers: the lower carrier (frame), the insulation and the panel. In the frame, L-profile or box profile is used; depending on the facade dimension, a 60x60 cm module spacing is our standard recommendation. A rock-wool or XPS insulation board is placed in the gap between the frame and the existing facade; this way, heat gain–loss can be reduced by 30–40%. The panel is fixed with a concealed-screw cassette system (no visible screws) or a T-profile suspension system. The joint width is 12–15 mm; an EPDM gasket + neutral silicone is applied on the inner part. In public buildings requiring fire safety and in blocks above 8 floors, FR (Fire Retardant) core panels are mandatory.

The salty humidity and strong wind conditions arising from Iskenderun's gulf location are a determining factor in the choice of facade material. In areas close to the coast (Çay District, Atatürk Boulevard, Numune Evler), standard polyester-painted panels take on a matte appearance within 5 years; for this reason we recommend PVDF-painted panels. This paint type carries a color warranty of up to 20 years. In the facade projects we have applied for commercial buildings around Tayfur Sökmen Boulevard, our references older than 10 years still preserve their first-day appearance today; this is the result of the right material + the right application.
