What Is Adhesive Vinyl Printing?

Adhesive vinyl printing is digital printing applied to adhesive-backed vinyl material, produced to be applied to rigid surfaces such as glass, walls, furniture and vehicles. It is the most frequently preferred surface-preparation method for shop windows, glass, in-store decoration, vehicle wraps and exterior facade advertising. The type of vinyl (calendered or cast), its thickness, the adhesive type and the appearance characteristic (matte, gloss, frosted, one-way) vary according to the application. If the right vinyl is not chosen, the application may bubble or its edges may lift within 6 months.

Technical Details

For standard window vinyl, 80–100 micron calendered vinyl is used; it is sufficient for flat and wide surfaces. On curved surfaces (vehicles, glass spheres, etc.) 60–80 micron cast vinyl is preferred because it is more flexible and resists form change over the long term. One-way vinyl (perforated film) has a perforated structure that shows the print from outside while remaining see-through from inside; it is widely used on shop windows and vehicle glass. Frosted vinyl is a type that gives the appearance of frosted glass and is preferred for glass partitions in meeting rooms and for bathroom and shower-cabin applications. UV laminate is offered optionally on all our vinyl applications.

Areas of Use

Store window graphics, brand logos on glass, campaign posters, restaurant menu-card glass, office glass-partition decoration, vehicle wrap printing, bus and metro advertising spaces, shopping-mall floor graphics, event decoration and home decoration are the areas where adhesive vinyl printing is heavily used. Bilingual window lettering in Turkish and English is often preferred by businesses in tourist areas.

Iskenderun's strong sunlight and coastal salt vapor pose the biggest challenge for outdoor vinyl applications. For shop windows in the Atatürk Boulevard and Çay neighborhood area, we use cast vinyl + UV laminate with a minimum 5-year warranty; we share the certificates of standard manufacturers (Avery, ORAFOL) with you. When it comes to vehicle wrap printing, the application must be done in an enclosed, heated environment; otherwise an air gap remains between the vinyl strips.
