What Is a Non-Illuminated Sign?
Non-illuminated signs are an economical and aesthetic solution for businesses for which daytime visibility is sufficient or which can benefit from street lighting. They are preferred in office blocks, in-plaza wayfinding, corporate buildings, warehouses and areas where illuminated signs are restricted. At Techno Reklam in Iskenderun, we produce non-illuminated signs on five different materials: Dibond, aluminium composite, acrylic (plexiglass), wood composite and a stainless steel body. Each has different advantages in terms of aesthetics and cost; choosing the right material at least doubles the lifespan.
Technical Details
For a non-illuminated sign, the most commonly preferred body is a 3 mm Dibond-like aluminium composite panel; it is light, has a smooth surface and is very suitable for taking UV lamination. In budget-focused projects, digital printing on 3 mm plexiglass (acrylic) is preferred; while in premium projects a laser-cut logo is applied onto 1.5–2 mm stainless steel or Corten steel. For the vinyl, we use cast vinyl with a 5-year outdoor warranty (Avery, ORAFOL) and apply a UV laminate over it. If surface lighting is desired, a spot-luminaire projection is prepared; this gives the sign night-time visibility without placing it in the illuminated category.
Areas of Use
Non-illuminated production gives very good results for the building-entrance signs of lawyers', accountants', architects' and doctors' offices, in-plaza floor/door wayfinding, the lobby panels of corporate companies, and warehouse and factory façade signs. For retail stores on the high street, it can be used as a low-budget temporary sign or an interior display promotional board. It also stands out as a mandatory solution in conservation areas and historic street surroundings where the municipality has imposed restrictions on illuminated signs.
Non-Illuminated Signs in Iskenderun and Hatay
Hatay's sunny climate, with an annual average of 2,800 hours of sunshine, increases the risk of fading on digitally printed surfaces. For this reason, on all non-illuminated signs we apply in Iskenderun, instead of the standard 3 years we have made a 5-year colour-warranty vinyl + UV laminate combination mandatory. On the Muradiye and Akçay side away from the coastal strip, a galvanised skeleton is sufficient because the effect of humidity is lower; while for projects close to the coast we switch to a stainless steel skeleton. Having witnessed the region's climate and installation conditions for years is our decisive advantage in material selection.

Yes. The sign can be lit with a spot-luminaire projection; this solution does not fall into the illuminated category, and the permit does not change.
If there is street lighting, it is also legible at night with a contrasting-colour vinyl choice. Otherwise, our recommendation is a spot luminaire.
Dibond is the brand name of the aluminium composite panel; we also use equivalent panels with the same structure. The performance is the same.
Cleaning the surface with a soft cloth 1–2 times a year is sufficient. No solvents or aggressive chemicals are used.
